BackpackBed.org is an Australian (est. 2007) and US (est. 2014) charity that saves lives of street sleeping homeless people. Founded byTony Clark. Tony and his wife Lisa Clark designed the patented Backpack Bed to give dignity to homeless and disaster victims without shelter.
It is no mean feat, governments around the world have yet to figure out how to give dignity and protect the human rights of people sleeping on the street. Over 240,000 Americans sleep on the street every night. Today, the study proven Backpack Bed has been used in 7 countries via almost 400 agencies to improve the health, dignity and comfort of those sleeping on our streets, under bridges and throughout our cities. For years the Backpack Bed has been focused on saving lives. In 2015, Backpack Bed inspired products - designed to exceed outdoor conditions - will finally be made available to the consumer market as a social enterprise. |
