Lorenzina Laera is an architect and designer with more than fifteen years of professional experience in a number of design disciplines, which include architecture, urban design, interior design, industrial and furniture design.
Currently she has her own practice spanning US, Costa Rica, Italy and France, in charge of design and construction of projects including retail, resorts and hotels. She is on staff at New Jersey School of Art + Design at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and, she has been teaching Architecture and Interior Design Studios and coordinating international workshops for over 7 years. Winner of the 2011-2012 Excellence in Teaching Award for Instruction by Adjunct Faculty. Invited as a critic reviewer of undergraduate and graduate students work in different Universities of both architecture and interior design. Beyond academia and the private practice, she also works for the city of New York playing a leading role within the Facilities Management Division as Architect and Project Manager for special projects. Her formal education is comprised of a Laurea in Architettura cum laude, from the University of Rome La Sapienza and she was awarded a Post Professional Masters Degree in Advanced Architectural Design at Columbia University, NY. Her work has been featured in several design and architectural publications in the U.S. and abroad, as well as in respected publications such as the New York Times and one of Italys leading national newspapers, La Repubblica. She was part of a team that won an Honorable Mention for the World Trade Center Memorial Competition which was featured in an article in the New York Times and in the book Imaging Ground Zero. |
