Zuzana Mantel was born in 1972 in Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia and currently lives in Prague, Czech republic.
In 1997 she finished study on department of design at Technical University in Kosice, Slovakia. Six years of study was oriented on product design, graphic design and visual communication. She has had 13 solo exhibitions in Slovakia, Israel and Czech Republic and 20 group participations in Israel, Slovakia, England, Spain, France, Austria, India, Romania, USA and Japan, among them she is an award winner in A' Design Award in 2016. Her works belong to private and public collections in Japan, Lebanon, Spain, Israel, Czech Republic, Mexico, USA, India, England, Canada, Italy, Netherlands and Slovakia. A Slovak award-winning artist and designer, Zuzana Mantels glass mosaics work is created with light and color, emotion and vibration. She uses color to create space. Definition of her expression is metaphorically symbolic. She is interested in philosophy, numerology, symbolism, life-philosophy, religion and culture. She create with oil color, glass sticks, smalty, natural stone and all kind of material what inspire new creation. To express her passion she use thickness and intensity of color with spatula or directly squeeze color from tub on canvas or on wood. During her experiments she develop technique of thin-thick lines to create space with color and rugged surface. Oil color have the result of sharp edges and keep the form of momentum of the creation. Mosaics she begun to create with natural stone in Israel. When she move to Europe, she start to use all kind of materials. In Czech she found traditional semi product of glass sticks. She create contemporary mosaic based on color and simply forms. Hand cut material is stuck with glue to glass or wood plates. She play with the forms of cut material and structure of surface. |
