An announcement of an annual design exhibition at the Samwon Paper Gallery (KR), The Black Cat, exploring a process of detective stories in terms of visual communication.
Namoo Kim, who is currently working as a graphic designer and design educator, initially studied user experience design and visual communication design in South Korea. He later went on to receive an MFA degree with honors in the graphic design program at the Rhode Island School of Design, in the United States. In the summer of 2008, he worked at Lust, a cross-disciplinary design studio in the Hague, Netherlands. While working there, he worked on multi-disciplinary projects such as the TodaysArt Festival, De Vrije Academie, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam. He came back to South Korea in 2009, and set up his own design practice and press named Golden Tree which is the English translation of his Korean name. Along with working on design projects and teaching graphic design and typography, he is currently doing lectures, workshops, seminars, exhibitions, research, translation, and publishing as well. Golden Tree’s projects have been awarded by AIGA, ADC, Tokyo TDC, TDC NY, iF, Red Dot, I.D., Creative Review, Goldenbee, Graphis, Creative Quarterly, IDA, Summit with outstanding excellence.
