Entry Description

Let’s Create an Exhibition with a Boy Named Cai (published November 2013) This adventurous story book, presented in a small landscape format with a glossy flexi-bound cover, is inspired by the popular Chinese legend Peach Blossom Spring. Incorporating influences from Chinese ink wash paintings, the uncoated vellum internals were selected to give the digitally-drawn watercolour illustrations a tactile finish. In line with the hand-drawn aesthetic, a sketch typeface was selected along with graphic elements of a pin-board, creating a playful learning experience for children as they discover more about each artwork featured in the story and the concept of creating their own exhibition.
