Lead DesignersEmmanuelle Moureaux
Prize(s)Honorable Mention
Entry Description

Imagined as thin layers of colored sheets scattered in the air, then settling randomly on top of each other, creating overhangs and recessions, the "Mille-Feuille" storage series, designed by Emmanuelle, and created by German furniture manufacturer Schönbuch was revealed at the Wallpaper* Handmade Exhibition in Milan. Employing her signature use of color, Emmanuelle draws inspiration from similar but larger-scale previous explorations, such as her Sugamo Shinkin Bank (Shimura Branch) project.
The colorful storage pieces are handmade out of layers of lacquered MDF and come in three sizes, 21 layers for a multicolor cabinet, 12 layers for a green-blue low cabinet and 8 layers for a yellow-pink bedside cabinet, all containing "hidden" drawers.
The function of the "Mille-Feuille" may change according to the numbers of layers and the concept can be developed for other functions as a low table or a shelf.
