Entry Description

“Unicer, a long story” celebrates, portrays and eternalises 125 years of operation by the largest Portuguese drinks producer, part of the Carlsberg Group, based in Porto (in the north of Portugal) and recognised worldwide. Over 1,000 pages, with a differentiating design, are packed into this two-volume literary work. It consists of two hard cover books in a very original wooden case, reminiscent of the wooden cases once used to transport beer. This case can be used for storage, transport and displaying the books on the library shelves. Omdesign was in charge of the design, page layout and production of this book in 2014 and also produced a shorter print version, with reserved access, through QR Code and address, to two digital versions (PT and EN). The book has special finishes. The bronze-embossed bas-relief cover is only in colours and materials that are used in the brewing industry and for beer. The velvety varnish has an effect that reproduces the texture of two extraordinary original tapestries, which portray the brewing process. These tapestries, by the renowned artist, Eduardo Nery, are property of the company. In the inside, there are several pages with spot varnish on some pictures and illustrations. The beginning of memorable moments in the life of the company and of each chapter are highlighted using quadriptychs and triptychs.
