Entry Description

The urban design of the FLOATING LINK is based On the unique geomorphology situation of the site which is a Valley located in the Qinling Mountain, South to the Xi'an city in China. The strategy is to protect the original situation of the bottom area of the valley, which is a natural lane with rocks, river and plants shaped by the valley, by elevating the architectures, the FLOATING LINK overhead. The FLOATING LINK, which is a hybrid of the landscape and architecture, is generated from an elevated network system, linking both side of the valley. A triple-layer pedestrian system includes the natural pedestrian lane of the valley which is under the FLOATING LINK, interior space inside the FLOATING LINK and the roof garden above the FLOATING LINK.

The overall planning is generated from a three-dimensional network system, which creates cells with various scales, suitable for events with different space requirements from public to private. An unique experience for visitors is created by the VARIETY of EVENTS organized by the complex system of cellular exterior spaces.

The FLOATING LINK is a complex system of various programs.
