Entry Description

Tucson was part of Mexico before 1854. Tucson’s Barrio Historico is a district near downtown Tucson with about 20 blocks of Sonoran adobe architecture in bright colors. Today that area acts almost like a reminder of the Tucson a century ago. But it survived not because of an awareness of historic preservation, but sadly, it survived because it has long been forgotten and neglected.
This project is trying to use color as a hint and feature the unique buildings in the district. Each building in this memo is translated into a color-coded building block featuring the main components of the building as well as the general impression in color. The book acts as a documentation as well as a guidance encouraging people to explore and preserve this historical area.
