Entry Description

The deluxe four-star Adriana Hvar Marina Hotel is a striking addition to Hvar?s waterfront promenade. Together with a luxurious spa and outdoor treatment terraces, the hotel is Croatia?s first member of the ?Leading Small Hotels of the World? group.

The Adriana?s appeal is the sophisticated simplicity of the architecture which is then carried through and exploited in the interior design concept. Behind the simple, elegant sandstone fa?ade with its grid of bedroom windows with narrow sliding shutters is a comfortable restaurant and lobby space, a ground floor lobby bar, a rooftop bar and lounge, 59 guest rooms and suites and a fourth floor saltwater pool.

Above the reception and lobby bar, distributed on five levels, are the guest rooms and suites, many of which offer fantastic views of Hvar harbour. The ultra modern bedrooms with their mix of versatile materials, clever use of available space and selective use of colour provides a comfortable refuge once a day of sightseeing, sun and sea is over. The art in the bedroom has been treated more as graphic design with a cleverly synchronised abstract, black and white, reclining nude image, which can be mistaken for sand dunes or the rolling hills of Hvar.

Adjacent to the swimming pool on the fourth floor is the main hotel bar with a 15 metre long counter and stunning views across Hvar town. The blue lit SkyBar, as it is known, acts as a shining beacon over Hvar, offering the best possible place to have a cocktail and watch the sunset.

Bio

Jestico + Whiles has grown steadily since the formation of the partnership by Tom Jestico and John Whiles in 1979, and in recent years the practice has undergone particularly rapid growth as it diversifies into a range of different sectors and builds on its reputation for design quality and innovative solutions to challenging briefs.

The practice has always been proud of the diversity in its workload, ranging from schools for disadvantaged children to University departments, hostels for the homeless to five-star boutique hotels and restaurants, master-planning of residential developments to the complete regeneration of inner city neighbourhoods, individual office fit outs to the building of corporate headquarters, designer shop interiors to complete retail malls and individual houses to high rise apartments.

The practice?s design reputation covers both new-build and the sensitive, contemporary, refurbishment of historic buildings. The ambition to bring design excellence to the rejuvenation of existing building stock exemplifies our commitment to sustainability and quality of design in all forms of construction. Our reputation for excellence is well established both nationally and internationally, with recent projects completed in India, China and throughout Eastern Europe (Poland, Bratislava, Croatia, Latvia, Czech Republic).

The practice incorporates a thriving specialist interior design studio, which attracts independent appointments based on its own excellent reputation, whilst also working in collaboration with the architecture studio. In 2006 we won Interior Designer of the year in the Building Design Awards.
