Fall Winter 2008

Lead Designers
Entry Description

LP&P by Catherine Fung is known for the innovative chunky handknits with the traditional handknit craftsmanship.
Catherine Fung has designed a gigantic 11ft x 24ft handknit wall art for her SOHO flagship store in New York.
Inspired by Brian Froud's faerie illustrations and dusky forest life, the Fall/ Winter 2008 collection is rife with earthy mischievous charm. Nature and Gothic mythology come together seamlessly?featuring sand-washed silk dresses in tones of lichen and prune. Warm up in chunky moss-colored or billowing, knot-embroidered signature hand-knits in fantastical shapes and wooly royal-hued coats with belled sleeves, matching alligator belts, and giant collars which unfurl like the undersides of mushrooms. These are clothes to wear while truffle hunting at the first light of winter in a faerie filled forest. Woodland creatures will gasp at your pillow-skirted evening dress with its' intricately embroidered ballerina bodice. The dark tones of gargoyle, dragonfly, vamp, black, and midnight lighten up with light-hearted elements and lusciously soft silks and wools. Whimsical details like black gems embroidered barnacle-style with silver embroidery on net and gem-toned faux alligator leather buttons make these fairy-tale pieces all grown up.

Catherine was born in Hong Kong and went to a boarding school in England at the age of 17 in order to explore the western culture where she stayed until finishing her study in the University of London, King?s Collage. Catherine had many fond memories of backpacking throughout most of Western & Eastern Europe. Catherine has always dreamed of becoming a designer since the age of 6 when she first started making clothes out of paper and candy wraps for her Barbie dolls. After obtaining a bachelor degree in business management to satisfy her parents? wishes, she used what was left of her savings to move to New York and study fashion design in Parsons School of Design. In order to begin her dream career as soon as possible, she committed herself in finishing the two-year program within one year and graduated on the dean?s list. Her graduation thesis was the honored feature in Frame magazine.
Catherine started the label Little Prince & Piggy (later named LP & P) in New York in 2004. The debut party of Little Prince & Piggy was held in Saks Fifth Avenue?s New York flagship store.
