This is a new build house on a West London back land site.
Creating seclusion was salient.
By developing a composition of pavilions, the design
responds to the irregular perimeter and creates a unique
ensemble around a tranquil courtyard.
Each pavilion has a top-lit pyramidal roof. This shape
reduces the contour, whilst maximizing volume.
Between the pavilions, secondary spaces discreetly
accommodate sub-servant functions such as toilets, stairs or
storage.
Internally the design is an enfilade of bright and generous
spaces. Externally the pavilions are clad in a standing seam
metal cladding, so that the building reads as a sculptural
composition.
