Entry Description

Müll consists of two furniture pieces made from plastic trash, predominately plastic grocery bags.

Each year an estimated 1 trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide. Unfortunately, less than 5% of those plastic bags are recycled, which means that roughly 95,000,000,000 bags are floating around the world every single year.

My project focuses on reducing waste. In a world where our natural resources are being depleted at an alarming rate, I decided to focus my energy on something that we have excess of, plastic bags.

In an effort to help others see the need for recycling, I created a process where flimsy plastic bags are turned into fully functional furniture pieces. I hope that by releasing the recycling instructions to the public, others can use this process to create various objects so then we collectively can remove trash from the environment.

One man’s trash really is another man’s treasure.
