The design of the mosque is contemporary modern and incorporates traditional Islamic design elements with a capacity for up 8,300 people. The goal of the design is to portray Islam as a progressive religion, as well as to reflect the simplicity and purity of modern Malaysian mosque architecture. The mosque was designed in line with the vision of Cyberjaya being a green city of the future. The main emphasis of the design is towards a more modern approach rather than the conventional postmodern typology, emphasizing the building’s sustainability elements, but retaining the spiritual design essence of Islam The mosque has awarded the GBI Green Platinum Award. It is said to be the first green platinum mosque in Malaysia by a recognise Green accredited mosque in the world.

About the Designer/Company
Azim graduated from Louisiana State University, USA in 1987, and worked at Jurubena Bertiga International for 5 years. While at JBIS he specialized in project management and managed many of the projects designed by the principals.
With the experience gained from Jurubena Bertiga, Azim launched out with Zulqaisar Hamidin and Yee Teck Choon, to set up ATSA Architects Sdn Bhd. In 20 years of its establishment, ATSA Architects has become an established medium sized Architectural firm with approximately 100 staffs.
Azim’s work includes broad experience in numerous building types and scales, including sustainable design for commercial and residential, as well as design for the arts and entertainment communities.
Azim and his firm’s design philosophy emphasizes on client requirements and user experience above the imposition of any particular design. Azim’s goal is to produce an award-winning design and to produce a structure that leaves a lasting impression on users and visitors.
In 2011, Azim present his paper “Zeitgeist – The spirit of our time’ to Worldbex Architectural and Construction Seminar in Manila. He also juried some of architectural competition held by local universities.
Ar. Azim recently published ATSA 2008-2011 Monograph and Selected Mosque From The Islamic World, Malaysia Mosque and The Future Mosque Design from the beginning of Islam until today.
ATSA is also a certified MS ISO 9001:2008 company; it has upgraded its certification to QESH Management System programme to qualify and meet the quality standards for ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements.
