Entry Description

Walking sticks/canes were fashion accessories for centuries. They were beautifully crafted pieces of art, made of expensive materials and decorated with precious stones and pearls. In the second half of the 20th century, walking sticks lost their fashion component and became simple helping tool, a sign of weakness and/or old age. People who are 70+ are still active and they like to look nice. Marlene and Maurice walking sticks are simple yet beautiful: they are made of contemporary material - (engraved)Plexiglas, with added LED-light in the base of the stick. The light turns on when the stick is pressed to the ground so the stick glows in the dark. The light gives an extra dose of security to the one using the cane.
