Entry Description

At the tip of Cape Ann along Boston’s North Shore, this small site sits atop a cliff 50 feet above sea level and enjoys a 180° view with the coasts of New Hampshire and Maine to the North and the Atlantic horizon off neighboring Halibut Point to the East.
The pool was the first completely chemical free living pool started in the US, modeled on the biology of Alpine Lakes and like these lakes creates clear potable water without chemicals. These natural processes were embraced as a point of departure for creating a pool with an affinity for the natural beauty of the site.
The pool house requires no air conditioning and is kept comfortable through its orientation, cross ventilation and its green roof, planted with native grasses. The materials are stone, quarried from the site when excavating for the pool, concrete, certified sustainable hardwood, glass and stucco.
