The Jack Rabbit Collection

Lead Designers
Prize(s)Gold in Accessory / Bags
Entry Description

The collections Nom de Plume was inspired after designer Mollie Culligan?s Grandpa Jack who deemed her ?jack?s rabbit? for her energetic daring and uninhibited imagination. Entirely self taught in design ? one of her first pieces created at the age of ten landed on Yoko Ono years later. The line began organically out of her home, was discovered first by a buyer at Barneys, launching the designs nationally and has since grown into an award winning, infamously indie, celebrity-sought handbag & belt line. Agyness Deyn, Lucy Liu, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Scarlett Johansson are counted as a few of the selective clients who adore the handmade collection. Each piece is handcrafted in Los Angeles by families of artisans with Italy's finest, buttery leathers, custom handcasted hardware with 14k gold content finish.

Culligan?s designs often exhibit architectural lines, flirting with minimalism, contrasting with ornate fine detailing in the graceful ruching of leathers, creating fluidity and movement. Much of her work starts with a core of masculine simplicity, yet always communicates a chic elegance with a unique edge.

The designer commits to a life of redefining the lines, breaking the bounds and appreciating the beauty of subtly.

Culligan is also a published author with her first book out with Penguin/NAL.

Bio

Los Angeles based designer Mollie Culligan has created distinctive accoutrements since she was a little bird; one piece designed at the age of ten has since landed in a Yoko Ono music video. Mollie cultivated her eye for spatial composition from her background in photography, yet began the collection a few years ago when she had excess white leather while reupholstering a vintage van seat into her only ?couch.? From there she began designing cleverly detailed belts and was soon discovered by Barneys New York who launched the line nationally and has carried the collection ever since.

Jack Rabbit?s creative undercurrents surge from the designers life ethic of constant flight, obsessive submersion, and creative play. In constant travel, total wonder, and immersion, the designer commits to a life of redefining the lines, breaking the bounds and appreciating the beauty of subtly.

Mollie, a life-long activist, provocateur, and Dionysus also has her first book out with Penguin/NAL entitled ?Ninja Chick,? illuminating the ancient six sacred precepts to living ninja; for brassy women who are human, hilarious, devilish and simply genius. Black mask optional.
