Centre d’ escalade
From the very beginning I wanted to create a usable space, with a distinct function that would leave no doubt of it’s purpose. Space, that would refer to specific places and feelings. Climbing wall become the core of the project . In the future, this place would fill up with people sharing same passion. I decided to create a space where they can not only climb, but also gather, have fun, make friends. The space where you could arrange events , festivals , film screenings-everything mountain related.
The project involves the adaptation of the old boiler room building in Krakow into Sports Center : climbing wall, media library and reading room , lounge bar , conference room (designed in the neighbour breezeway ) and chimney (in winter converted to ice climbing wall ) .
I was inspired by ice climbing walls, which man can often encounter abroad. In this case, however, I decided to create traditional (from the technical point of view) climbing wall, but the theme of winter, ice- Antarctica have become an excuse to creation of this interior. Auroras, halos, Southern Cross, Magellanic Cloud, as well as other phenomena occurring in Antarctica are reflected and interpreted in the project.
About the Designer/Company
My name is Małgorzata Kącka and I am Industrial Design Student (previously I've studied Interior Architecture) of Fine Arts Academy in Cracow.
My home town is Zakopane, beautiful small city in the South of Poland. We call it Winter Capital of our country. It is very close to mountains, and in winter you can practice any kind of winter sports there.
I love skiing, climbing and running and I love waking up to the view of the Tatra Mountains- that's why projects mostly concern sport.
