Entry Description

The apartment is located in Midtown Manhattan in a new residential development and it’s about 1,500SQF distributed on two floors (duplex).
A large fenestration running around the apartment’s perimeter brings in an unusual and pleasant amount of light. Large trees planted right outside the apartment give the illusion of being in the suburbs or up on a tree, which is quite unique for this busy part of Manhattan.
Some graffiti on the adjacent building visible from the little breakfast table in the kitchen, remind we are still in the City.
The Living room/Dining room area on the first floor was expanded by eliminating what used to be a Study, now a formal dining room.
A central built-in separates visually and physically the living area from the dining area and it hides away A/V equipment and TV.
Our client’s passion for Op Art and for the Kinetic Movement of the early 50’s is evident throughout the apartment where a large collection of prints and paintings of Agaam, Vasarely, Zox covers most of the walls.
Our choice of furniture, fabrics, lighting and materials was done keeping in mind this great Art movement.
Mid-century modern pieces happily marry the surrounding Art: from the Milo Baughman chairs to the Kagan chaise, from the Paul Evans case pieces to the Venini chandelier, Barovier and Arredoluce lamps.
Fornasetti accessories spread around the house are the cherry on the cake.
