Entry Description

The project is a mixed use development at Vikhroli, a suburb of Mumbai, India. This land has a legacy associated with the industrial heritage of the Godrej group and is uniquely located between serene mangroves adjoining the sea on the east and the bustling city on the west. The Project is aptly named ”The Trees” after a line of beautiful Raintrees and other species, all of which grace the site and lend it it’s unique character. Godrej has put in place plans to develop this land in the context of rapid urban growth, albeit with the spirit of the place intact and a deference to placemaking. The architecture & landscape component of this development has to, therefore, collaborate between the strong presence of natural elements on site, a potent industrial legacy and contemporary expressions of architecture in a rapidly growing nation. The harmony of these three factors forms the premise on which a vibrant mixed use development is emerging on site.
