Entry Description

Ruth Wilson of Beaufort Interiors,
was delighted to be appointed as designer for Foxleigh Hall in Dromore, County Down, Northern Ireland.

The design brief was to create a classical elegant interior.

Many of the textiles used in the interior are bespoke,
for example hand-blocked velvet curtain fabric with handmade trimmings, bespoke woven upholstery fabrics, and handmade custom wool carpet.

Even the shaped swags and tails have all been designed specifically for the project - the Beaufort workrooms do not use standard templates, so that everything they produce is proportioned perfectly.

The crossed-poles window dressing design adorning the large stained-glass window on the main staircase is a particularly noteworthy feature.

Solid wood furniture has been extensively employed. The entrance hall boasts a hand-carved and hand-finished mirror above a co-ordinating console table, surrounded by gold-metallic wall-coverings.

The ceiling of Foxleigh's "Folly" has been treated with a bespoke silk wall-covering, shaped and hand-painted. Around the same room, the windows have been elaborately dressed with silk pelmets, each bowed
into the room, shaped and trimmed with an onion fringe and curled tails at either side, and again, sporting a hand-painted design.
