Entry Description

This publication is designed to promote the awareness of traditional crafts in Singapore and to serves as a memory project for the celebration of Singapore 50 years. Besides documenting the important heritage and cultures of traditional crafts, this publication includes a children storybook to engage and introduce our heritage to the younger generations. Hoping that this valuable culture can be passed down for generations to come.

The storybook, Vanishing Materials, is printed both-sided which allows our young readers to have either an English or a Chinese storybook, by flipping on either side.

The documentation, Vanishing Wisdom + Memory, is designed as a folded publication with lots of blank space for readers to document their memories and photographs of more vanishing traditional trades. It is folded and printed with low-density paper to signifies the less popular traditional crafts. Yet with a perfectly straight front edge to denote the perfection of craftsmanship.
