IDA 2024 Gold and Silver Winner in Motion Design

Q: What sparked the idea for your award-winning project, and how did it take shape?

The inspiration for my award-winning project, definitions, came from a personal experience that made me reflect on the importance of understanding one’s own unique purpose in life. It struck me how easily we can become caught up in society’s expectations, where the idea of “success” often feels like a one-size-fits-all path. I wanted to create something that would speak to those who might feel lost or disconnected, encouraging them to explore values and aspirations that resonate with their true selves rather than simply following what’s been laid out for them.

Q: How does your personal style or philosophy influence your designs?

I believe personal style and philosophy deeply influence design. For me, art is about creating work that feels both heartwarming and thought-provoking. While my style is constantly evolving, I’m naturally drawn to vibrant, warm color palettes that give my pieces energy and personality. At the same time, I allow my emotions and inspiration to guide me, adapting to what feels right in the moment. Ultimately, I aim to create designs that resonate with others, and I find that being observant and mindful of the world around me often sparks the inspiration needed to connect with others on a deeper level.

Q: What was the most challenging aspect of this project, and how did you tackle it?

The most challenging part of this project for me was seamlessly blending the 2D and 3D aesthetics. I’ve always enjoyed working with both styles, but combining them in a way that felt natural and cohesive really pushed me creatively. It took a lot of trial and error, adjusting how each layer interacted, refining the line strokes in the 3D program, tweaking textures in composing, and experimenting with different techniques. There were moments when it felt like things weren’t quite clicking, but by taking my time and being patient, I was able to find the balance that made the two elements feel unified and visually engaging.

Q: Winning an International Design Award is a huge achievement—what does this recognition mean to you?

Winning an International Design Award is truly an incredible honor, especially as a young professional. Being recognized by IDA means a lot to me—it’s not only a validation of my work but also a huge source of encouragement. This recognition motivates me to continue creating art that can resonate with others and inspire meaningful connections. It reinforces my passion for design and pushes me to keep challenging myself to grow and produce work that has a positive impact.

Q: Can you share some insights into your creative process? Do you follow a structured approach or let inspiration lead the way?

My creative process is a blend of both structure and spontaneity. During the ideation phase, I prefer to let inspiration flow freely and guide my direction. It’s important for me to stay open to new ideas and let the creativity unfold naturally. However, once I move into the design and production stages, I shift to a more structured approach. This helps me stay on track and ensures the project progresses smoothly, optimizing the production process while maintaining the integrity of the original concept. It’s a balance that allows me to stay creative while also being efficient.

Q: What advice would you give to aspiring designers looking to make an impact in their field?

For me, making an impact as a designer has always been about staying true to my passion and authenticity. Art is a way of connecting with my inner voice and translating it into something meaningful. It’s easy to get caught up in trends or external expectations, but I’ve found that the most powerful pieces come from a place of honesty. When something is created with genuine intention, it has a way of resonating with others on a deeper level. My biggest advice is to keep exploring, stay curious, and trust that your unique perspective will find the right audience.
