Cafeteria, Duesseldorf

As part of a modernization project, this staff restaurant in a basement area was to be renovated, including the lighting. An essential part of the design task was to introduce daylight and a visual relation to the exterior by building a new light well. For structural reasons, only small windows could be realized, which didn't take enough daylight in to have noticeable effects. Thus the idea of a floor-to-ceiling, ≈ 20 m long artificial LED panorama window wall came up to create a lighting atmosphere that adapts in color, variation, intensity etc. to the circadian rhythm (HCL) of the users.
