Technē is the ancient Greek term for an art or craft.Technē chest of drawers is meant to be positioned within a room so it can be approached mainly from the open corner. Its centerpiece is a cymbal that generated the design of the chest of drawers. The opening of each drawer activates a mechanism that strikes the cymbal, creating different sounds. Different cam mechanisms, custom-made for this piece are placed along with the drawer slides. These actuate several strikers that make the cymbal produce various tones. The user can control the sound by variating the speed of drawer movement.
