This project is inspired by an ancient African fabric called Aso Ofi. Aso Ofi is a short form of Aso llu Oke meaning cloth from the upcountry. It is the traditional wear of the Yoruba tribe of the southwest people in Nigeria, Africa. The Yorubas are the second largest tribe in Nigeria after the Northerners. The size of Aso Ofi indicates social status like the Agbada Nla (big agbada), which looks like an oversized garment with multiple layers. There are also the Chieftains as well as Esiki also known as Dashiki, which is a short garment with slits on the sides.
