China's food waste management faces challenges in formalization and treatment. The Anti-food Waste Law of 2021 aims for security and sustainability. Despite regulations, kitchen waste often ends up wasted or causing pollution. To tackle this, urban disposal systems need redesign and cross-sector collaboration.
