Arup Associates is a multidisciplinary architectural design practice of over forty years standing. The group was set up in 1963 alongside Ove Arup?s engineering office to develop his concept of total architecture, and quickly established a reputation, firstly in industrial and university buildings, and subsequently with the design of offices, concert halls, transportation facilities and sports buildings. Arup Associates exists as a radical alternative to the traditional architectural practice; a unique design studio recognised as a world class exemplar of integrated design. The key, core disciplines of architect, designer, structural engineer, environmental engineer, mechanical engineer, public health engineer and electrical engineer are organised into project specific, pan-disciplinary teams, for each and every project ? always co-located at Arup Associates? design studio. Our structure and work ethos enables us to consider a number of options for a given scheme and quickly evaluate them in relation to a number of criteria. The client is involved in the process, allowing the design team and client to work towards a common solution. Teamwork is at the core of our structure. We provide technologically advanced design that is appropriate, economic, and sensitive to environmental and human needs, taking in to full account the local area, specifically in the case of the Treforest Campus location, a thriving town, surrounded by natural beauty. In essence we design for people, creating fully sustainable world class buildings and places that benefit those who use them and that demonstrate responsibility to those affected by their presence. Our buildings are designed in a mature studio that unites invention, exploration and new thinking with pan-disciplinary integration ? where the best idea wins.
