Abby Lutz and Rachel Ancliffe met in 2003 while involved in the fine arts. Abby was working at the Fabric Workshop and Museum and Rachel was there as a Textile Design apprentice. Abby and Rachel quickly became friends and talked about fashion endlessly. The fashion ideas and inspiration discussed were very similar and talk of forming a design team came up often. After spending the last year as a design team for another line, the two have decided to launch their own vision: Institute of Dress. The intention of IofD is to collaborate with artists in the fine art world and to have the designs constantly evolve with this collaboration. The first season for IofD is Spring 2009.
