8:00PM is a part of my series, ANDROGYNE. This piece plays on male clothing stereotypes. A lot of ill fitting and oversized pieces are used to represent the woman stepping into uncomfortable territory. Both pockets and a fly zipper are features of the pants, which help push the garment more towards a masculine aesthetic. The tie is also very large and almost resembles a leash. The vest features shoulder pads that help create a bulkier and squarer silhouette. Finally, to contrast all of these masculine features, a large wide-brimmed hat with a tulle veil sits floating above the model upon wooden structures sewn into the vest.
