Entry Description

Hack-a-bench redefines citizens’ role in public facility design, putting a spin on underutilized park benches and explore a new public facility management model to accommodate citizens’ urban interventions. It is a park bench reappropriation project in Aldrich Bay Park, HK. By bestowing citizens the right to alter public facilities, the process has democratized the privilege to define our cityscape.

Citizens are encouraged to rig up their ideal bench by modifying existing ones. The designer duo realize the dreams of surveyed park users. The end product is 10 ergonomic and sinuous benches.
