Entry Description

John Gaines is a 3.63 acre park with swim center in Mueller’s SE district. The park features a community garden, picnic and play areas. Pool has two formed concrete bathhouses with trellised breezeway between, shaded by solar panels above. Each bathhouse has an interior open courtyard, bordered by a blue hued rainwater cistern, gathering rain for two green roofs. Blending a crafted, detailed aesthetic with green building features, the paths of water, air, and energy trace visibly through the project, interacting with visitors and landscapes, and providing small habitats for wildlife.
