Biotoop: Tartu Downtown Cultural Centre Concept

Biotoop Cultural Centre, an extension of a park’s public realm, is a concept design for the cultural and entertainment hub in the city of Tartu. Guided by rich, cultural remnants of the past and inspired by the country’s diverse landscape, the Biotoop is designed as a humble architectural centre piece to a grand, civic park-setting at the edge of the Emajõgi river. Housing a museum, library, cinema and restaurants, each undulating floor plate is visually connected by an open-air courtyard and physically joined by a continuous ramp, culminating to the views at the roof top park.
