The design of the residence juxtaposes the historic building envelope with an open loft plan. A dialogue between the interpretation of the historic details with contemporary objects is used to define the public and private spaces. Timeless design is accomplished through the expression of craftsmanship in the making of the elements and details. Indirect lighting reinforces the millwork as objects in the space. A cast glass light fixture floats above the dining room table in harmony with the views of Central Park. A minimal palette expresses the essential nature of the selected materials.
