The project consisted of two phases: a renovation of the toe existing octagonal structures and the addition of a third octagonal structure positioned on a 22 acre lot in the Texas Panhandle. The design challenge was to incorporate the contrasting preferences of the two [married] clients. Our solution was to create a design which offered two unique experiences under one roof. The result was a contemporary Rec Room on the lower level with deep, masculine color tones combined with an airy, feminine Master Suite above. The functions and aesthetics of each level were unified by a sculptural, self supporting staircase. Finish selections also served as unifying elements between the upper and lower levels. The natural wood and stone work incorporated the rustic materials found in the surrounding Texas landscape.
