The Kitchens is part food court, part food hall and part factory, offering a truly unique, immersive experience of “makers that retail” and “retailers that make”.
It’s a cultural destination where you can watch local artisans and purveyors produce their wares, learn tips from the experts, be inspired and taste specialties. It’s about real food, for real people, in real time.
The intention was to create a neutral backdrop to all the multi-sensory activity that is simple, urban yet classic, allowing the food and the people making and enjoying it, to be the “heroes”.
Manufacturing is visible both in the market and on the mezzanine above. You can watch the process, and buy the product to eat in or take away.
Most shopping centres carefully segregate offers with boundaries. We’ve done the opposite. We’ve sought the cacophony of completely transparent “visibility”, and no “back of house”.
