Roost is an egg scanner that inspects fertilized chicken eggs' gender. It addresses the controversial issue of chick culling, a practice where male chicks are brutally euthanized because they cannot lay eggs. Roost offers a more ethical solution with in-ovo sexing technology that can identify male eggs before they hatch. This allows eggs to be isolated for more utilitarian purposes. Roost is designed as a set of 7-axis robot arms that can be placed either in front of loading platforms or over conveyor belt set ups. One arm scans the eggs while the other arm isolates eggs scanned as male.
