Entry Description

Fun & Function is a line of interactive decor to be implemented in spaces for children. It encourages fun that is grounded in functionality, versatility, sustainability, and durability. My functional design solution takes inspiration from a jigsaw puzzle, reimagining its scale, and translating it into an area rug. The rug would have a self-adhering backing which individual puzzle-like sections of rug will attach to. This provides the opportunity for play, enriching a child’s cognitive abilities and problem-solving skills, without sacrificing aesthetic.
