Children of the Diaspora celebrates the juxtaposition of the Philippines and the States and encapsulates the journey of growing up as Filipino-American. To exhibit the cultures, emphasis is placed on traditional Filipino garments and lace paired with Western bespoke tailoring through wool. Lace bridges both cultures: intricate embroideries of sheer traditional garments and the luxuries of the western world. In adapting traditional womenswear patterns into menswear, focus shifts from upbringing and hones in on cultural amalgamation and heritage, letting go of becoming the perfect Filipina.
