Entry Description

"Kumiko" is a traditional Japanese technique that assembles wood into geometric patterns without using nails. This is achieved by cutting thin pieces of wood, processing them with grooves and tenons, and fitting them together.
"Forêt" utilize the traditional "Kumiko" technique, typically used for flat decorative designs, and apply it to create three-dimensional assemblies. Focusing on the fact that the equilateral triangle, a fundamental pattern in Kumiko, is structurally stable, the design evolves into a three-dimensional piece of furniture made using only small cross-sections of wood.
