The concept for this new hotel is the contemporary version of a classic Mexican public square and is experienced as a vertical urban promenade through a series of interconnected public spaces. From the ground floor, the promenade continues up a winding stair that connects the various levels like a ribbon. The ribbon's dynamic form contracts with the rectilinear geometry of the buildings architecture to entice guests onto its path. From the exterior, its form is strategically revealed up the facade, hinting at the vertical procession of interior spaces. On the interior, the ribbon weaves in and out of spaces to constantly tease the guest with the opportunity for continuing their journey. The ribbon's final formal expression is a canopy element at the pool lounge that frames a direct view back to the central skyline of Mexico City and covers the ultimate public square.
