Style-conscious and design-centric, MATT & NAT combines bold color, edgy silhouettes, and inventive materials for Spring 09 in a collection that juxtaposes structured designs with sumptuous fabrics. A perfect balance of
ethics and beauty, MATT & NAT reinvents what it means to be fashionably responsible, creating accessories void of
animal by-products yet rich in style.
Drawing inspiration from modern artist Zebedee Jones, Spring 09 takes cues from the physicality of paint in the artist?s
canvases. The texture of the paint translates effortlessly to the materials featured in the
latest MATT & NAT collection. Trends for the season include graphic colors, molten textures, reflective patents,
hardware and subtle details. Colors are bold with hot reds, mustard yellows, rosy magentas, inky indigos, and an icy alabaster. Spring 09 explores the dichotomy of extremes.
When Inder Bedi was 18 years old, a mahatma challenged him to forego animal products for thirty days. The challenge has now lasted almost two decades and set off a chain of events that has culminated in the founding of MATT & NAT. As a vegan, Inder quickly became frustrated, unable to find fashion-forward, designer vegan accessories. Once graduating in 1995, he designed his first ever collection and set off to create just that. And he?s never looked back.
Now, thirteen years later, from the Montreal headquarters, he continues to work closely with the creative team to define the MATT & NAT aesthetic.
