Entry Description

For the first time in history, the sport of skateboarding is being introduced to the Olympic Games. Nike Ensō is about breaking boundaries, crossing lines and opening closed doors and my designs reflect the rebellious nature of skateboarding culture paired with the structured and historical history of Japan. The three skateboards serve as a triptych, forming a red circle otherwise known as Japan’s infamous red sun. The koi fish, the tiger and the snake all represent aspects of the skateboarder, men and women who break boundaries.
