Entry Description

Sited on a rocky desert plateau, this home is nestled within a constellation of boulders overlooking spectacular views. The home’s diagram is a triptych of elements: a floating roof plane, a collection of wooden volumes, and two concrete anchor walls. The hovering roof provides respite from the sun in its opaque form and as a porous wooden lattice. Seven rectilinear volumes house the program, extending into the landscape to maximize the surrounding terrain and create an open space in the home’s center. The orientation and form of two concrete walls guide one to the glazed entry.
