This project was undertaken when Virginia Tech Arts Policy Board discussions revealed a
need for the university to produce a high-quality printed capabilities piece to increase
awareness of the university's breadth of arts and technology activities in learning and
discovery; depth of rich arts engagement experiences; and resonance that occurs when
graduates leave the university uniquely equipped to contribute to the world as global
citizens. This publication was distributed to a limited, strategic group, including high
school counselors, government officials, national arts organizations, selected research
sponsors, and other universities with strong arts programs.
