Entry Description

Childhood memories of courtyard houses in India and the vernacular architecture of Ireland inspired a mixed-heritage couple’s vision for this suburban residence. The three-story butterfly-roofed structure evokes expansiveness, while inviting relaxed, spontaneous gatherings.

Western Red Cedar clads the main volume façade, and flanking one-story volumes are made from smooth-troweled integral color stucco. The entry gallery, family room, and living room, all framed with accordion glass doors, connect to the courtyard, creating an effortless flow that expands the heart of the house.
