Pragati Maidan is a redevelopment of a 123 acre site with Exhibition Halls and a Convention Centre for 13,500 people. The Plenary Hall is elevated from the ground, creating a “Window to Delhi”, freeing space below for conference spaces, and an open-air public amphitheater. The circular geometry reflects ancient symbology, and is a tribute to traditional public and civic buildings with importance. Its integrated water and stepped public spaces, colonnades, local materials, and traditional colors show India’s approach to the future while respecting timeless architectural traditions.
