The single-family house is located on the land that used to belong to the Pedroso Monastery, in Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal.
The land is steep and covers two large lots of the subdivision, designed with the objective of safeguarding the existing vegetation and trees.
The upper floor of the dwelling, we have the living and the dining room, the kitchen, and the three suites, at the street level, which allows access to the land. On the lower floor, which is partially buried in the land, we have the garage, the laundry room, the wine cellar, the guest room, the games/cinema room and the pool.
Raulino Silva is an architect from Escola Superior Artística do Porto, and was born in Vila do Conde, in 1981, where he works and lives.
His work, particularly on the housing theme, has been shown in several exhibitions, standouts include the "Shine Exhibition", at the Big Design Festival Ljubljana, the “Best International Houses” in Venice and the Europe 40 Under 40 Awards in Athens. He took part as a speaker at The Plan Magazine's Perspective Europe Forum, in Italy, at Pecha Kucha Night in Porto, and was invited to present his projects at “Arquitectura Avanzada” in Mexico.
