The Canada Bay renovation transformed the rear of the house into a modern home for living and entertaining. The rear of the home now opens up to one large space which incorporates the living, kitchen and dining areas, customised to the needs of the young family. The kitchen features an open galley-style kitchen, while the living space features two perpendicular oversized sliding doors which create a variety of different outdoor living spaces. Carefully placed frosted and transparent louvres on the sliding door control the amount of heat and light entering the house while providing privacy and ventilation. A productive garden covers the wall of the external courtyard and provides a visual link to the kitchen that enriches the experience of food preparation. The motif of recycled brick running through the new addition provides a visual link between old and new.
