Racism in the United States has grown increasingly in just the past few years. “Inside Outside of Culture” consists of 25 images of Mona Lisa with different eyes originated from 5 Asian countries: China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and Thailand. The purpose of this exhibition is to educate the public about the diversity in Asia that often got ignored. The stereotype of “All Asians look the same” has triggered bullying and discrimination in numerous environments. By using an icon such as Mona Lisa, the viewer will be able to gain a new perspective from an existing prejudice towards the painting.
